Manchester Digital Laboratory (Madlab)

Northern Quarter, Manchester

MadLab was set up in 2009 with a mission to provide hands-on space to actively encourage practical workshops and peer-to-peer learning. MadLab operates as a not-for-profit. It is housed in a 3,000 sq. ft. former shop in Manchester’s Northern Quarter, spread over three floors. The ground and second floor are used for workshop space, workshops and events with the first floor used for office space for both MadLab and creative industry ‘Comma Press’. MadLab has 36 active groups and a further 14 ad hoc user groups. Since it opened in 2009, MadLab has had 25,000 individual meetings with 8,000 users in the past 12 months.
