Tom Smith

I am a PhD student on the Creative Exchange studying in the Open Lab research group at Newcastle University. Prior to this I studied Computing Science (Games and Virtual Environments) at Newcastle University, gaining a BSc in 2011.

 

I have always been interested in game development and recently I have become interested in game design theory, especially the role of the interface. I will be researching video game narratives, emergent narratives and how we as players interact with these narratives. To explore these areas I will be focussing on the experience of using digital game controllers, how we can design them to be more integrated with the game's narrative and in turn make games more interesting and engaging.
